A giant Manta Ray feeds on plankton by somersaulting through the water in this beautiful limited edition print. Captured as the 4m wide animal loops, mouth and gills wide open through the water. The spots on its belly are as individual as a finger print making this animal identifiable year after year. This one has already been named, see it here at the Palau Manta ID website

Jellyfish Lake in Palau is home to an estimated 10 million Golden jellyfish, who all follow the sun as it traverses the sky. They do this every day because within their bodies live microscopic algae that photosynthesise producing sugars that the jellyfish then metabolise to make energy. It’s in the jellyfish’s best interest to keep its algae in bright sunlight to maximise the photosynthesis.

A huge Gorgonian Sea Fan thrusts out from the reef into the current so that its polyps can feed on the plankton drifting by. Each fan is made up of tens of thousands of individual polyps, each blissfully unaware of the Sharks swimming out in the blue.

An adult Green Turtle swims towards the camera above a coral reef in Micronesia. Accompanying it is a flat looking Spadefish that uses the marine reptile as both protection from predators and picks up any bits of food that the turtle misses as it eats. Turtles are very messy eaters….

These large fish are individually packed full of sharp teeth evolved to rip huge chunks of flesh from their prey. Barracuda of this species form large schools in the hundreds that swim out in the open blue water. The fish are very interested in SCUBA divers and will come close to inspect you. Very unnerving as you never know what is going on behind those staring eyes…

Gorgonian Sea Fans grow to huge sizes, sometimes 3m across. the long filaments are covered in coral polyps, each an individual animal feeding on the plankton as it floats by. Sea fans will always sit perpendicular to the current to maximise the water passing and hitting the fan.
